ADVERTISEMENT FOR THE POST OF MEDICAL DIRECTOR
The management of the Hospital hereby invites applications from suitably qualified Medical Doctors for the post of Medical Director. Applicants are to note that this is a full time job and must be willing to comply fully with the extant regulations in this regards.
The National Orthopaedic Enugu is a 350 (Three hundred and fifty) bedded Specialty Hospital. The Hospital has been in the forefront for providing Medical services, training and research in Nigeria.
Job Title: Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer
Responsibilities:
a. The Medical Director is the Head/Chief Executive of the institution. He/She is accountable to the Board of Management and the Honourable Minister of Health.
b. The Medical Director is charged with the responsibility of the execution of policies and matters affecting the day – to- day management of the affairs of the Hospital
Qualifications & Requirements:
i. Candidates must be qualified Medical Practitioners registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria with not less than twelve (12) years post qualification.
ii. Candidates must be Fellows of either the National Post graduate Medical College of Nigeria or West African Postgraduate Medical College or its equivalent registerable by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
iii. Candidates must be Fellows in Orthopaedics duly acquired and registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
iv. Candidates must have been Consultants for a minimum of five (5) years.
v. Candidates must be medically fit and less than 55 years of age from the date of this advertisement.
vi. Candidates must be of proven good character and integrity.
vii. Evidence of Quality Medical Researches is an added advantage.
viii. Candidates must have considerable experience in administration of health matters and show evidence of high – level managerial capacity in the administration of a tertiary Medical Institution.
ix. Knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an added advantage.
Remuneration:
Salary and allowances will be in accordance with the Public Service Salary Structure for this category of Officer.
Tenure of Office:
The appointment is for a tenure of four (4) years in the first instance and may be renewed subject to satisfactory performance and discretion of the Federal Government for another four years.

i. Applications should be submitted in twenty (20) copies with up to date
curriculum vitae, copies of relevant documents together with names and addresses of three (3) referees one of which must be the current or immediate past employer or a Senior Medical or Dental Practitioner of not less than twenty five (25) years post qualification experience and who should be in a position to attest to the candidate’s academic, professional and managerial abilities as well as moral character and uprightness.

iii. Please note that Recommendations/Confidential reports from the referees
should be submitted directly to the above address by the referees and marked “Confidential”
iv. In addition, candidates should enclose his/her vision statement for the hospital in the next four years in not more than 1000 words.
v. Submission of applications closes 6 (six) weeks from the date of this advertisement. Late submission will not be accepted.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following Training Programmes at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu.
- RESIDENCY TRAINING IN:
- Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery
- Plastic Surgery
- POST BASIC SCHOOL OF NURSING:
- Orthopaedic Nursing
- Burns and Plastic Nursing
- INTERNS: (Limited numbers for 12 months uninterrupted internship)
- Pharmacy Interns (For Holders of B.Pharm)
- Laboratory Scientist Interns (For Holders of B.MLS)
- Nurse Interns (For Holders of B. N.sc Nursing)
- SCHOOL OF ORTHOPAEDIC CAST TECHNOLOGY:
- For full time National Diploma Programme in Orthopaedic Cast Technology.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prospective applicants for Residency Training Programme must:
- Be qualified Medical Practitioner
- Be fully registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria with current license
- Have satisfactorily completed the NYSC programme or otherwise exempted.
- Possess the Primary Fellowship of the relevant faculty.
- Complete disclosure of any other training you may have undergone is mandatory
- Three (3) referees reports to be addressed to the Medical Director, one of which must be a reference from your last place of work or Testimonial from the DEAN faculty of your medical school.
- Possess professional Indemnity certificate from a reputable Insurance Company.

- Prospective candidates for Post Basic School of Nursing must:-
- Be a nurse registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria with current practicing license.
- Have minimum of one year post qualification experience.
- Possess West African School Certificate/GCE/NECO with at least credit passes in English language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics obtained in not more the two sittings.
- Prospective Candidates For Internship Must Possess:
- Certificate of provisional registration with their regulatory bodies
- Statement of Result
- Oath Certificate
- Three reference letters, one of which must come from the Dean of your Faculty.
- Affidavit that you have not previously done internship in your respective discipline
QUALIFICATIONS FOR NURSE INTERNS:
- Eligibility: Graduates of B.N.Sc degree programme from approved and accreditated departments of Nursing in Nigeria University who passed the professional examination of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) and licensed by the Council.
- Graduates of the B.N.Sc degree programme from foreign Universities recognized by Federal Ministry of Education (FME) and National University Council (NUC) registered by NMCN and given provisional license to practice as Registered Nurse (RN)
- Prospective applicants for School of Orthopaedic Cast Technology must:-
- Posses the West African School Certificate/GCE/NECO or their acceptable equivalent with credit in five (5) subjects at not more than two sittings. This must include credit in English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Health Science and two (2) other subjects.
- Experience in the use of Plaster of Paris will be an added advantage.

Smile Train is systemically following the work you do to become a global leader in cleft care so that we can recognize YOU for your important contributions and accomplishments. To that end, Smile Train has started a Partner Reward and Recognition Program.
This program will track each Smile Train partner’s dedication and development in the areas of patient care, quality improvement, program awareness, and coordination within Smile Train’s global community. The knowledge gained through this program will give Smile Train a means of regularly recognizing and rewarding partners for being global leaders in cleft care.
Our Smile Train Partner Reward and Recognition Program will be renewed every calendar year with a new group of awardees.Only partners who complete the Annual Partner Survey will be eligible to participate.
In 2013, we had more than 700 respondents in 62 countries.
